MEET OUR CREW

THEY’RE THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS

PETER BEHRENT

Our skipper Pete has been boating his whole life. He has had a boat since he was just four years old, but unfortunately, his first boat he tells us, it didn’t have a motor, so he had to paddle it to get anywhere! At the ripe old age of 12, he travelled around the world by boat and then purchased his own boat when he was 14, this time with an outboard. Pete has been part of the Savoy family for almost five years now. He knows all the best spots and nothings ever too much trouble.

BRUCE CLARKSON

Bruce obtained his commercial skippers ticket in 1998, over 21 years ago, along with Peter (above), but his interest in fishing and boats started as a young child, in fact he can’t recall ever not fishing! While starting with the smaller fry his real passion is game fishing which he has been pursuing for about 40 years. He has fished for the majority of that time in New Zealand with quite a number of excursions around the Pacific targeting Kingfish, Tuna, Marlin ( striped, blue and black ), Sailfish and more recently Broadbill. He own’s a large trailer boat for this type of fishing and when the opportunity presents he is out chasing everything from Snapper to Broadbill.

JIM CRAWFORD

Jim has held his skippers ticket for 28 years! He has a background in commercial fishing in the 80’s, fishing the entire North Island and with 35 years experience boating, Jim is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to the waters of Auckland and the Hauraki Gulf. Jim has been a part of the Savoy family since 2018.
